Practical Considerations for Ordering Library Peptides

Libraries can range from a handful of related sequences to thousands of individual peptides, and the ordering, plating, and documentation logistics scale accordingly; researchers should discuss plate format, concentration normalization, and delivery format (individual tubes vs. pre-plated) with their supplier before finalizing a large library order.

Quality Control for Library Peptides

Full individual QC (mass spec and HPLC) for every peptide in a very large library is often cost-prohibitive; many suppliers instead offer a tiered QC approach, fully characterizing a representative subset while confirming crude synthesis success for the remainder. Researchers should understand and document which QC tier applies to their specific order.

Follow-Up Synthesis of Confirmed Hits

Once a screening campaign identifies promising sequences, researchers typically request full re-synthesis and complete analytical characterization of those specific hits before proceeding to more detailed follow-up studies, since library-tier QC is not sufficient for confirming results intended for publication or further development.
